Activities for Schools

Last year of infant school and Initial Primary Cycle (6-8)

Lab 0_6 offers a series of activities designed for children and teachers at interested schools. The activities listed below are aimed at EI-5 and the initial primary cycle (6-8 years).

Activities for last year of infant school and Initial Primary Cycle (6-8)

We propose spending an entire morning of science by combining two activities: one free-choice activity (Exploration in Lab 6-8) and another focused on a specific challenge (Geology, In the Style of Science, or Earth Balls 2).

Lab 6-8 is a free-choice science space where all activities encourage the mobilization of scientific ideas in children, which teachers can then build upon in the classroom.

  • In the Geology activity, based on a large model of the central Catalonia territory, we propose various interpretation and representation activities, as well as an introduction to geology.
  • In the In the Style of Science challenge, children are tasked with discovering what is inside opaque containers that cannot be opened. Like scientists, they will need to use all available resources to approach, as objectively as possible, an answer that no one knows.
  • In the Earth Balls 2 proposal, we continue the comparative study of properties among different soils through more elaborate challenges and the introduction of measuring instruments. Earth Balls 2 does not require prior completion of the corresponding activity for 3-6, but it does not exclude it either. It serves as a further step in understanding the properties of soils.
